Animated Starscream is the best Starscream since toon G1. *loves him*

The power differences between Ani 'Bots and Ani 'Cons are made very clear in Mission Accomplished. Even if Starscream's *ahem* enhancement is taken into account.

Wreck-Gar is adorable.

My cat Yin has decided he must be stuck to me like glue.

I need to find a good first-person shooter game. Single-player, please. I just want something I can run through and kill things on, like I used to with the original Doom, and the old Wolfenstein games. Recommendations? Hell, for that matter...If I could get my hands on the old Wolfenstein games...

I also need another copy of the game Plague & Pestilence. Because, yes, the ownership of the joint copy is being heavily contested. I don't care if it's the original by Hilary's Toy Box, or the re-issue from Chessex. If anyone out there spots one, new or used, please, please let me know or snag it for me. I will make it well worth your while. I got sniped on the one copy I've seen up on ebay in the last few seconds. grrrrr

I have had some of the most vivid and odd dreams since being on my new medications.

I miss my friend.

About Time

So, I'm finally able to sit down and start watching the second half of the Transformers: Animated series. So yes, the series caught my attention enough to keep watching.

It really isn't a bad attempt at re-inventing the franchise. The animation is well done, even if the overall style isn't my favorite. Most of the characterizations are fresh enough that I can enjoy them without constantly comparing them to G1 incarnations. I still think Bumblebee is an arse, though. And at least Sari appears to be getting some character growth now. She still bugs me a bit. I doubt I'll ever actually like her, but she is becoming not so annoying.

There are a couple of characters who have really caught my interest. I will have to see how they evolve.

*********

As for my attempts at organization: Thursday & Friday were a bust on that. Thursday I cleaned, just not that room. The kitchen was starting to drive me crazy. Friday I had errands to run. So I started into it in earnest yesterday. Didn't even crank on the computer until almost 9pm. Sorted a bunch of paperwork, moved a lot of boxes, and basically wiped myself out. I'd feel better about it if there was more visible progress, but....oh well.

Speaking of, need to get back to it.

So.....

I just read Spotlight: Arcee. I'm not going to spoiler, even behind a cut, because I know some people are clicky happy. However, I am going to disagree with several people.

I don't really consider this spoilery but who knows how people will see it. )

Hrm.....

I just watched Along Came a Spider. Easily the best episode of TF: Animated so far, in my opinion, though the Dinobot episode runs pretty close.

Not going to be spoilery here. But the twist, while predictable from the flashbacks, was nifty. And I find myself rather intrigued by Animated Blackarachnia now. So many possibilities....

I shall have to ponder.

So, I won't be forming any overall opinions on the new Transformers: Animated until after a full season. Or until I decide I can't take it anymore, which is what happened with Armada. Some general thoughts though, after watching the premier "movie" and the official episode:

1) I am simply not a fan of the animation style. Yes, yes, I know it's a bastard off-shoot of the Justice League style. A style which I was never a fan of, though I will admit to all and sundry that JL was an excellent series. I can deal with that though. And admittedly the style fits the feel of the cartoon.

(and of course the JL style was an evolution of the B:tAS style, which I loved. It's the little things, ya know?)

2) Love the fan nods; they make my inner fangirl squee like a squeeing thing. But it is, at the same time, rather apparent that this is aimed at at younger market, while attempting to snag the loyalty of the long-time fan. Nothing wrong with that at all, really. Just a bit blatant. But hell, it's a kid's show, based off a half-hour commercial disguised as a kid's show. What do you expect?

3) Optimus Prime V.who-the-hell's-counting is a Swiss Army Knife cloaked in Fire Engine drag.

4) Bumblebee...bothers me. I am unsure as to the exact why. I shall have to ponder.

5) Mirage Prowl is made of win.

6) Bulkhead is voiced by the same actor that voiced Broadway in Gargoyles. And I am such a geek for picking up on that.

7) I understand that there will be a Shockwave. This both please and scares me. Fuck up my Purple Space Gun of Doom and I will get downright testy.

8) The annoying squishy child must die. She's bugs me more than Daniel ever did. The kids were one of the things that made me stop watching Armada. I know that "human friends" are a canon staple, but eh....

I have a spectacularly cool Decepticon logo shirt now...

And a cap that says CSI: Arkham

We just got back from seeing Transformers.

Yes there were "WTF?" momments. Yes, we have yet another AU to add the Transformers saga. Yes, it was flashy, over the top, with too much extraneous damage, and OMFG why the middle of a fracking city, for crying out loud, but still...

I have not been that captivated by a film in years. And it had absolutely nothing to do with story or acting or set or anything that "should" make a great movie. It was seeing icons of my childhood in true larger than life fashion, watching Good and Evil clash in battle the way they have in my head for so many years. It was watching OPTIMUS PRIME being voiced by the only person who will EVER be Prime, PETER CULLEN (who incidentally, voiced Venger from the old Dungeons and Dragons series as well /end random trivia insertion).

There were at least three times when Lynson patted me on the head because I was, literally squeeing. And bouncing, and laughing, and...it was just that cool. A "good" movie? Probably not really. But I saw the original TF animated movie the day it released waaaaay back when; tonight was like going back and capturing that wonder again. It was fucking fantastic!

I'll cut this, so's not to spoiler. )

Look, I know, I know- mindless entertainment created for the masses. I shouldn't be swallowing it. Should damn sure not still be squeeing like a fangirl that just caught a glimpse of Orlando Bloom in elf gear. But I am. I honestly expected to be crying in the bathroom afterward over the sacrilege. But I'm not. I am honest-to-goodness happy with what I saw tonight. It was a true live action-albeit AU- version of the cartoon I loved still love so very much.

Please don't let it suck, please, (I know it probably will but)please, please. Ghost Rider is going to suck big, sweaty donkey balls no matter how pretty it might look. Order of the Phoenix trailers have spoilered some major gaffs from book to movie. I can't take it if Transformers is bad, I just can't.

The Teaser trailer is out boys and girls. Go get your Giant Robot freak on.
