Humble Bumble

The biggest thing I think I've missed (in regards to the holidays, anyway) these past few years has been decorating our own tree. You see, back when Lynson and I were living in the backsticks of Mississippi, we got this wild hair to make a unique tree topper. Since we both have a fondness for the old Rudolph cartoon, it was only natural that when we stumbled upon the Bumble that year, we'd choose an Island of Misfit Toys theme; each year we added something new. Now, admittedly, we didn't do the full holiday set-up this year- there's no Snowman Village and Yukon Cornelious isn't flying his sled over the tree- but I'm happy just to have the Bumble back and doing his job.

The tree and our Patented Cat-Proofing Device:)

The Humble Bumble, Star at the ready!

The Bumble from the side. He got a bit tangled in the lights:)!
A few slightly blurry (sorry) pics of the cooler ornaments:

Spider-Man, Spider-Man...

One of our Disney splurges...

"I'm not bad; I'm just drawn that way."

Putting these on the tree again made me happy and sad at the same time. These are a couple of hand-blown, hand-painted glass ornaments that belonged to Greckle (my maternal grandmother). Many of the family ornaments went "missing" the Christmas after my Mom's death; I think my aunt and cousin's took them, to be honest. I have the two boxes of these because I had already set them aside to take with me when I moved. I know it's a risk having them up, what w/ the cats and all, but it wouldn't be a Christmas tree without them. Besides, the train has proven to be an effective barrier:)
So that's my tree! Hope you all have a Merry Christmas Season!
