We did actually dress up. Tai was a pirate and I....I was "her bookwench what keep me outta the jails and in the money." So yeah, I was a pirate lawyer/accountant. There are few things scarier.
It was a lot of fun, even if my feet were screaming after almost 8 hours in 3" almost-stiletto heels. We even made up a waiver people had to sign before they could interact with Tai. It was awesome! After all how many lawyers can say they got Death to sign a waiver? And an open-ended one at that!
Now on to the excellent pictures draconisferret took of us before we left. Thanks to her for the pics, and to dark_kitty_69 for making my beautiful lava rock and red pearl necklace.
( Here there be Hi-Res-Pics! )
Myself and the__malkavian are notoriously camera shy. But here are a couple pics from the reception, for those of you who're curious about what we look like.
Just the two of us
Ready for my close up
Of course, my hair is back down past my shoulders and a bit less red now; but I'm thinking about cutting it that short and getting it back to that color again.
Hello All! I officially have my own little nephew to spoil now:)!!!!!
My little sister Kristy gave birth to her first child (also the first grandchild for my Dad, and first great-grandchild in the family) Wed at 11:10pm. Miles Carson weighed 7lbs 2oz and was 20 inches long. Thanks to my WONDERFUL co-workers, I was able to get all my work shifts covered. Some fast packing and even faster driving got me down to Dothan just 30mins before delivery, so I was able to be watch/assist(ie hold her leg so she didn't kick the doc; Ross (kid's dad) had the other leg) w/ the birth like Kristy wanted me to do. She had a very easy birth, and only had to push for just under 20mins. She said that, all and all, it wasn't as painful as she expected; the worst part was going from 3cm dilated to 7cm in less than 2 hours, which was when she finally gave in and got the epideral (sp?). Anyway, the doctor was very impressed that she did so well, esp w/ this being her first child. He's good and healthy, and probaly the cutest little troll I've seen! And yes, that's said w/ affection!
The only "down side" is that it doesn't look like she's going to be able to breast feed. Miles just isn't taking to it well, and her milk isn't coming in quick enough for what he does eat to fill him up. I've spent the past to days telling her that not breastfeeding doesn't make her a bad mommy, but she's not convinced yet.
I've spent the past few days in Dothan, sitting w/ her at the hospital and helping out her and Ross. The child may not have been concieved under the best of circumstances, but I will say that Ross is already absoulutely devoted to that child. I think, if money wasn't an issue, he'd be content to be a stay at home dad. And even if they don't stay together as a couple, I think they'll always take care of each other, know what I mean?
Of course, I have to tell a couple of funnies on my sister:) Right before delivery I was noticing how dark her eyes were and at first was worried that she had developed "pregancy anemia" or something, but then remembered that this was Kristy, after all. So I asked Juliana (K's best friend) about it. No, that wasn't the problem. Kristy took the time to put on full make-up and fix her hair before letting Ross drive her to the hospital:)! Then, when the baby finally came out, Juliana was taking pictures of him. She stopped taking pics, so she could look at the baby, and Kristy starts screaming, "Don't stop taking pictures!" Haven't heard of any birthing Mom screaming that during labor before:)!
And to answer the question that some of you might have: NO, I DO NOT want a little troll to call my own. If for no other reason than I don't want to have the experiance of trying to push something the size of a watermelon through an opening the size of a lemon. 'Nuff said.
( PICTURES!!!! )
See, the problem w/ living w/ the 'rents and them knowing we have no intention of having 2-legged children is that they spoil our 4 legged ones. We always get the fuzzies something, like a new scratch post or some such; Pepper (the grey one in the photos) HAS to shown his wrapped presentl otherwise he will tear open every other present under the tree. No lie, guys, I'm serious.
The 'rents got them lots of toys...catnip toys. Poor little Ms. Quinn was too scared of the extra people in the house to come out, but the boys had a high old time!
FYI: the orange tabby is Yin and the skinny grey tabby is Goyle
